A half day of hiking, history, beer tasting and local food.

The tour starts at Lamb Inn. From here we hike up the nearby mountain, Haus, for spectacular views over the fjord and of Akureyri in the distance. Then we descend into the neighboring valley to the remains of Helgársel, a farm which was abandoned in the 1920's.

From Helgársel we walk by the river Garðsá (conditions permitting), and hike into a forested area overlooking the spectacular Garðsá Canyon. .

We will be picked up from the forest and driven to The Old Farmhouse at Öngulsstaðir. Here you will discover the story of the Öngulsstaðir family and the history of this remarkable building, whilst sampling local beers produced in North Iceland (other drinks are also available).

From The Old Farmhouse we take a short walk up to the Lamb Inn Restaurant where you will be served Lamb Inn's speciality; roasted leg of lamb with home made rauðkál (pickled red cabbage), sugar coated potatoes, green peas, gravy and delicious home made rhubarb jam. (Fish and vegetarian alternatives are also available upon request).

For dessert you can choose from three traditional Icelandic dishes; The Icelandic Cream Cake, Skyr with cream and blueberries, and a selection of home made and locally produced ice creams.
